Alwi and Putri exit French Open as Ubaidillah reaches semi-finals
Putri Kusuma Wardani lost to Japan’s Hina Akechi, while Moh Zaki Ubaidillah will face French player Alex Lanier for a place in the final.

Indonesian singles players Alwi Farhan and Putri Kusuma Wardani were eliminated from the French Open 2026 at Arena Grand Paris on 23 October, with both expressing disappointment after their defeats.
Putri fell 17-21, 18-21 to unseeded Japanese player Hina Akechi. She trailed 6-11 at the first-game interval and 9-11 at the break in the second, unable to overturn either deficit.
Putri said she had prepared for a physically demanding match but struggled with Akechi’s accuracy and controlled play. Her opponent repeatedly placed the shuttle beyond her reach, particularly in the second game, leaving her uncomfortable on court.
Alwi surrendered an 11-6 interval lead in the opening game as his opponent moved ahead 15-14 and won it 21-19. He also led early in the second game before falling behind 9-11 at the interval. Alwi said he could not yet explain the loss of momentum and would review the match with his coach.
Indonesia still has representation in the semi-finals through Moh Zaki Ubaidillah. Known as Ubed, he is due to meet France’s Alex Lanier for a place in the final.
