Indonesia’s Veda Ega Pratama lost the chance to start from pole position when the 2026 Australian Moto3 race was cancelled on 25 October following heavy rain at Phillip Island.

MotoGP announced the cancellation on X, saying poor visibility had affected the medical helicopter’s operations. Rain persisted from the morning into the early afternoon, and organisers decided against proceeding with the race.

The race had been scheduled for 11am local time, or 7am Western Indonesian Time. Information displayed during the broadcast said racing activity had been suspended for two hours because of the downpour. MotoGP said a further update on the provisional MotoGP race schedule would be announced at 2pm local time.

Veda, a 17-year-old Team Honda Asia rider in his debut Moto3 season, had become the first Indonesian to secure pole position in the category. He is eighth in the riders’ standings with 111 points, behind seventh-placed Valentin Perrone on 120 points. Championship leader Maximo Quiles has already secured the 2026 Moto3 world title.
