Buriram United FC have appointed Spanish coach Raúl Caneda following the departure of Marió Silva, whose tenure lasted less than two months. The club are the reigning ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup holders.

Caneda, 57, takes over with preparations for an AFC Champions League Elite fixture against Kashima Antlers at the Thunder Castle as his first assignment. Buriram will then face Ho Chi Minh City Police FC on November 18 in their next Shopee Cup match.

His coaching background includes jobs at Saudi Arabian clubs Al Ittihad Club and Al Nassr FC, Qatar’s Umm Salal Sports Club and Khor Fakkan Club in the United Arab Emirates. Most recently, he coached Zhejiang FC in the Chinese Super League during the 2025/26 season.

Silva had succeeded Shopee Cup-winning coach Mark Jackson at the start of September. Buriram began their Group A campaign in the competition with a goalless draw against Borneo FC Samarinda.
