EAC seals 89-79 victory over LPU with late scoring burst

EJ Castillo contributed 23 points as the Generals earned consecutive wins and moved to a 2-3 record in NCAA Season 102.

A closing 11-0 burst secured an 89-79 victory for Emilio Aguinaldo College over Lyceum of the Philippines University on October 2, 2026. EJ Castillo scored 23 points in the NCAA Season 102 contest at San Juan's Filoil Centre.

The Generals trailed 79-78 when 3:02 remained, then kept the Pirates scoreless while adding 11 points to complete their second successive win. EAC's record improved to 2-3. LPU slipped to 1-4, having lost three games in succession.

The lead changed hands across the game. LPU finished the first quarter ahead 26-20, but EAC took control by winning the second period 35-18, leaving the halftime score at 55-44. The Pirates recovered to trail just 65-64 after three quarters. A 6-2 burst by the Generals opened a 71-66 advantage early in the fourth before LPU regained the lead.

Wilmar Oftana supported Castillo with 13 points and six rebounds, alongside two blocks and two assists. Jude Bagay supplied another 12 points for EAC. Matthew Rubico recorded 21 points plus 10 rebounds for the Pirates, whose other leading scorer was Roger Ondoa with 20 points.
