Erick Thohir urges firm action over Super League supporter violence
The PSSI chairman said clubs could face points deductions and warned that permission for away supporters could be withdrawn.

Indonesian football association PSSI chairman Erick Thohir has instructed competition operator I.League and club managements to enforce regulations firmly following a series of incidents involving supporters in the 2026/2027 Super League.
Speaking in Jakarta on 28 October, Erick called for action without compromise. His remarks followed clashes at Banten International Stadium during Persita’s match against Persija, as well as attacks on supporters after matches.
Restrictions on away supporters have already been tightened for some high-risk fixtures. Erick said certain clubs’ supporters were barred from travelling to matches against particular opponents, and that clubs recognised the harm caused when fans could not return home safely.
Erick distinguished between incidents at matches and criminal acts outside stadiums, saying the latter were entirely a matter for law enforcement. He praised police for their swift handling of several cases and said he had held a closed-door meeting with the national police chief.
Referring to the Kanjuruhan tragedy, Erick said disorder during matches could not be tolerated. PSSI was prepared to sanction clubs, including through points deductions if order could not be maintained. Permission for away supporters to attend matches could also be withdrawn.
