Falcons earn M8 berth as Liquid end ONIC's playoff run
A 3-2 win over Aurora sent Falcons into the MPL Philippines Season 18 title match, with the country's second M8 spot still to be decided.
Team Falcons PH are the first Philippine team to qualify for the M8 World Championship after defeating Aurora Gaming PH 3-2 at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City. Their upper bracket final victory also earned them a place in the MPL Philippines Season 18 Grand Finals.
Falcons won the last two games after Aurora moved ahead 2-1. In Game 4, they overturned a gold deficit of 13,000, before winning the decider 17-3. Last season's runners-up remain in pursuit of their maiden MPL Philippines title.
Kyle "KyleTzy" Sayson finished Game 4 on Nolan with a 3-2-7 KDA, followed by 9-1-7 using Hirara in Game 5. Across those games, Salic "Hadji" Imam's combined KDA was 7-2-17.
Defending champions Team Liquid Philippines knocked ONIC Philippines out in the lower bracket semifinals, taking the series 3-0 with game scores of 9-4, 8-3 and 8-2. Liquid's Dave "Teddy" Viaña went deathless in both opening games as the team recovered from an upper bracket loss to Aurora.
Aurora next face Liquid in a best-of-seven lower bracket final at 5 p.m. The winning team will become the Philippines' second M8 representative and advance to challenge Falcons for the Season 18 championship.
