Fernandez takes Mandalika MotoGP pole as Marquez qualifies fourth

Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio complete the front row for the main race on 11 October.

Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez secured pole position for the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia on 10 October, recording a fastest lap of 1 minute 28.852 seconds. He led qualifying at the Mandalika circuit in Lombok ahead of Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio, with Marc Marquez finishing fourth.

Marquez and Di Giannantonio had been at the front earlier in Q2 before Bezzecchi and Fernandez moved ahead. With five minutes remaining, Fernandez displaced Bezzecchi at the top. None of the riders bettered his time during their final attempts, leaving Bezzecchi second and Di Giannantonio third for the main race on 11 October.

The opening qualifying session saw crashes involving Johann Zarco, Jack Miller, Ai Ogura and Enea Bastianini. Fermin Aldeguer nevertheless topped Q1 with a lap of 1 minute 29.639 seconds, followed by Ogura and Alex Rins. In the final qualifying order, Jorge Martin placed fifth, ahead of Aldeguer, Ogura, Alex Marquez, Pedro Acosta and Francesco Bagnaia.

The riders will next contest the sprint race before the main race. Martin leads the championship standings with 333 points, while Marquez has 331 points, a gap of two points. Bezzecchi has 284 points.
