Geylang stay top after Tampines draw as Sailors close gap
Lion City Sailors moved within one point of the leaders after beating Balestier Khalsa 4-0, and have a game in hand.

Geylang International retained first place in the Singapore Premier League with a 0-0 draw against Tampines Rovers at Our Tampines Hub on Nov 1. The result extended Geylang’s unbeaten run to six matches, but their lead narrowed to one point.
Lion City Sailors moved into second place by defeating Balestier Khalsa 4-0 on the same day. Shawal Anuar, Antonio Mance, Matthias Phaeton and Lennart Thy scored for the defending champions, who have played one fewer match than Geylang.
Tampines had more possession in the opening half but struggled to create clear opportunities. Geylang threatened through Yang Hyeon-ju and Ryoya Taniguchi on the left, with Taniguchi’s 36th-minute finish disallowed for offside. Tampines increased the pressure after half-time without breaking through.
Geylang coach Noor Ali welcomed his players’ progress but said it was too early to judge their title prospects. With a lengthy league pause after November as Singapore prepare for the Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, he stressed the need to preserve fitness, focus and form.
Tampines slipped to third on goal difference but remain unbeaten, with four wins and one draw, and also have a game in hand over Geylang. Coach Nazri Nasir praised their effort following a 5-1 AFC Champions League Two defeat by Cambodian club Svay Rieng three days earlier, saying recovery was now the priority.
