Indonesia moved from 118th to 117th in the FIFA rankings after beating Bangladesh in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, CNN Indonesia reported. The victory added 2.66 points, taking the team's tally to 1,163.15 as of the afternoon of 2 October.

The rise put Indonesia ahead of Sudan, which had occupied 117th place. Sudan lost 11.08 points following a 4-1 defeat by Mozambique in qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations on 1 October.

The ranking is Indonesia's highest in six years. Its previous best since 2020 was 118th, reached in July 2025 under Patrick Kluivert. The team subsequently dropped to 122nd before climbing to its current position under John Herdman.

Indonesia could improve its ranking again by defeating Thailand in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 final. Thailand is ranked 92nd, having climbed two places after beating Vietnam, and was scheduled to face the Philippines on 2 October.

Elsewhere in the region, Malaysia advanced one place to 135th after a 6-0 win over Singapore. Vietnam remained 99th following its defeat by Thailand and was due to meet Pakistan in its final Group B fixture.
