Indonesia takes sepak takraw silver after defeat by Japan
Japan won the Asian Games 2026 quadrant final 2-1, taking the deciding set 15-13 after Indonesia had levelled the match.

Indonesia earned silver in the Asian Games 2026 sepak takraw quadrant event after losing to host Japan in the final on 3 October. Japan claimed gold with a 2-1 victory, winning the opening and deciding sets.
The opening set went to Japan 17-15 despite Indonesia taking the first three points and later building an 11-8 lead. Japan drew level at 11-11, then repeatedly erased Indonesia’s narrow advantages as the set reached deuce.
Roll spikes from Ubaidur Rohman and Jelky Ladada put Indonesia ahead at 13-12 and 15-14 respectively, but neither lead held. Japan ultimately took two successive points to close out the set.
Indonesia responded in the second set, recovering from an early 0-1 deficit to lead 9-4. It maintained the advantage and won 15-9, sending the final into a third set.
Japan moved ahead 10-6 in the decider before Indonesia narrowed the gap to 10-11. Indonesia could not complete the recovery, and Japan secured the set 15-13 to win the title.
