Indonesia is aiming for seven gold medals, eight silvers and 17 bronzes at the 2026 Asian Para Games, alongside a place in the top 10 of the medal standings. The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia set the goals after assessing its athletes’ potential.

The contingent’s 103 athletes will compete in 12 sports. Their departure for Japan was scheduled for 13 October, five days ahead of the opening ceremony, with competition running from 18-24 October.

Chef de Mission Reda Manthovani said the targets reflected training results and qualification performances under Asian Paralympic Committee criteria, according to Antara. He described the top-10 ambition as realistic and intended to motivate the athletes.

Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir urged Indonesia to narrow the gap with Thailand, which he described as a leading ASEAN rival. He said Indonesia had won 76 gold medals over its Asian Para Games history, compared with Thailand’s 91, leaving a gap of 15 golds.

Speaking at the team’s inauguration at Solo City Hall, Erick said he hoped Indonesia would gradually surpass Thailand. He urged athletes to make the most of their opportunity to compete and said the government was paying attention to the contingent’s needs.
