Indonesia wins 39 medals to set overseas Asian Games record
The team finished 16th at the 2026 Games, with five gold medals exceeding the Ministry of Youth and Sports' target of four.

Indonesia ended its Asian Games 2026 campaign in Aichi-Nagoya with 39 medals, its highest tally at an edition held outside the country. The delegation placed 16th after collecting five golds, 11 silvers and 23 bronzes.
Delegation chief Todotua Pasaribu confirmed the final medal count in a written statement dated 3 October 2026, the closing day of the event. He said the five gold medals surpassed the Ministry of Youth and Sports' target of four and thanked those involved in the team's campaign.
The overall medal haul increased despite a lower position in the standings and fewer golds than at the previous Games. Indonesia had ranked 13th at the Asian Games 2022, which took place in 2023.
Its previous best total at an overseas Asian Games was 36 medals, also recorded at the 2022 edition. Indonesia's highest tally when hosting the competition remains 98 medals, achieved in 2018.
