Indonesian MotoGP economic impact estimated at Rp5.2 trillion
Attendance reached 157,875, the highest recorded since the Lombok circuit entered the MotoGP calendar in 2022.

Indonesia’s 2026 MotoGP round produced an estimated Rp5.2 trillion in economic impact, according to state-owned tourism developer InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC). The race took place on October 9-11, 2026, at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
ITDC Acting President Director Ahmad Fajar said attendance totalled 157,875, up 12.5 per cent from 140,324 in 2025. He attributed the economic contribution to record crowds and tourist spending. Overall economic turnover increased 4.8 per cent year-on-year from Rp4.96 trillion in 2025.
Fajar said Indonesian and overseas visitors started reaching the Mandalika Special Economic Zone and surrounding areas a week ahead of the event, stimulating local tourism activity before racing began. Spending averaged Rp8.56 million per visitor over the measurement period, which ran from one week before the event through race day.
The Industrial Engineering and Management School of the Bandung Institute of Technology (LETMI-ITB) conducted the assessment, drawing on field research undertaken before and during the competition. Fajar said researchers combined an Input-Output model using a Statistics Indonesia (BPS) table with a Keynesian multiplier framework to estimate the economic contribution.
BPS will publish a separate, independent assessment, Fajar added. He said its findings would provide an official benchmark against which to compare LETMI-ITB’s estimates.
