Indonesia’s Janice Tjen heads the singles draw as the top seed at the Chennai Open 2026, according to the WTA’s official website. The WTA 250 tournament takes place in Chennai, India, from 2–8 November 2026.

Janice holds the highest WTA ranking among the entrants at No. 75, despite falling 28 places from her previous position. She will begin her title defence against American Katherine Hui, ranked No. 652, in the round of 32.

The Indonesian won the 2025 singles title by beating Australia’s Kimberly Birrel 6–4, 6–3 in the final. She also claimed the doubles trophy alongside Aldila Sutjiadi, with the pair defeating Storm Hunter and Monica Niculescu 7–5, 6–4.

Neither Janice nor Aldila is entered in this year’s doubles competition. Janice will focus on singles, while Aldila will not compete with another partner.

For Hui, 21, Chennai will be her second WTA tournament following the Queretaro Open 2026. Before that, she had competed only in WTT W100 and W50 events.
