Jumamoy seals 87-85 overtime victory for NU over UST
A banked three-pointer with 0.5 seconds left settled the contest after UST erased a fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime.

National University overcame a University of Santo Tomas comeback to claim an 87-85 overtime victory at Smart Araneta Coliseum on October 10, 2026. Reinhard Jumamoy delivered the decisive three-pointer in the UAAP Season 89 men's basketball contest, leaving just 0.5 seconds on the clock.
The result lifted NU's record to 4-2. UST slipped to 2-3 following its second consecutive defeat, despite recovering from a deficit that had reached 15 points. NU began the fourth quarter with a 64-51 advantage and was still ahead 77-68 at the 2:09 mark, before Amiel Acido and Mark Llemit helped bring UST level at 77-all.
Landyn Jumawan put UST ahead 85-84 by converting two free throws with about 35 seconds left. A missed Jumamoy three-pointer was followed by two unsuccessful free throws from UST rookie Kirk Canete. Receiving an inbound pass with 5.5 seconds left, Jumamoy moved right against Llemit's defence and banked in the winning shot. Mo Diassana then blocked Acido's attempt from three-point range.
Jumamoy scored 19 points, collected six rebounds, provided six assists and made two steals. He finished 7-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-13 on three-pointers. NU also received 16 points from PJ Palacielo, who fouled out, while Kenshin Padrones scored 11. Paul Francisco and Macmac Alfanta contributed 10 apiece.
For UST, Jumawan led with 22 points and added six rebounds, four steals and one assist. Llemit's contribution was 21 points, followed by Acido with 20. Centre Collins Akowe had eight rebounds and five turnovers alongside his 11 points.
