San Miguel strengthened their push for first place in Group A with a 135-105 victory over Terrafirma at Ninoy Aquino Stadium on October 14. George King led the scoring with 44 points in the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup encounter.

Already assured of a quarterfinal berth, the Beermen moved to 8-3 after losing 116-98 to defending champions TNT in their previous game. Terrafirma's record fell to 4-7. San Miguel coach Leo Austria said the team needed a response to that defeat to preserve their top-two position, with first place still possible.

Terrafirma trailed by just one point after the opening quarter, but San Miguel outscored them 36-20 in the second. June Mar Fajardo supplied 13 points during that period and ended the game with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

King added 20 points in the third quarter, including three four-pointers. He scored 16 points from four-point range overall, made every three-point attempt and recorded five rebounds and five assists.

CJ Perez contributed 22 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal. Don Trollano scored 13 off the bench, shooting 71.4 per cent from the field.

Justin Strings led Terrafirma with 28 points and nine rebounds. Maverick Ahanmisi finished with 23 points, nine assists, six rebounds and two steals.
