Lee Zii Jia beats Su Li-yang to reach Arctic Open quarter-finals

The Malaysian will next meet France’s Christo Popov, ranked world number two.

Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia secured a quarter-final place at the Arctic Open by defeating Chinese Taipei’s Su Li-yang 21-17, 21-12. His next opponent is world number two Christo Popov of France.

Lee, currently ranked world number 56, combined attacking play with composed defence against Su. The Alor Setar-born player also limited his unforced errors during the match.

The last-eight meeting pits Lee against another attack-minded player in Popov, whose game also features speed and agility. Lee enters the contest as the underdog.
