Lowry awaits FIFA ruling on eligibility to represent Malaysia
FAM says it has submitted the defender's completed naturalisation documents after five years of continuous residence in Malaysia.

Shane Lowry's bid to play international football for Malaysia is pending FIFA approval, with the FA of Malaysia (FAM) confirming that his completed naturalisation documents have been sent to the governing body.
Datuk Noor Azman Haji Rahman, FAM's secretary-general, said the association was waiting for a decision. He provided the update at a ceremony for the signing of a strategic partnership involving FAM, Yes and Ryt Bank.
Born in Australia, Lowry is 37 and has been with Johor Darul Ta'zim since 2021. His continuous residence in Malaysia has reached five years, and clearance would give the national team an additional choice in defence.
Naturalised status does not, by itself, confer eligibility for international matches. Whether Lowry can represent Malaysia remains governed by FIFA's rules.
Bergson da Silva and Manuel Hidalgo were among the most recent recipients of naturalised status. Players who have already represented Malaysia after naturalisation include Mohamadou Sumareh, Liridon Krasniqi and Romel Morales.
