Malaysian sim racer Nabil Azlan, 24, claimed the Assetto Corsa gold medal at Bira Circuit in Pattaya, Thailand, during the 2026 Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship (APMC), which ran from October 23 to 25.

Nabil won both his quarter-final and semi-final on the way to victory in the final. His result kept Malaysia’s run of esports gold medals intact across all editions of APMC, which began in 2023.

Iqbal Suji also made the Assetto Corsa final in his first championship appearance. The 28-year-old Malaysian placed sixth after coming through qualifying.

In the iRacing competition, APMC newcomer Raja Amirul Syauqat, 22, finished ninth. He had started seventh before a collision involving an Australian competitor left him at the rear. After several laps battling that driver, Raja recovered one place.

Ethen Low’s iRacing run stopped in the semi-finals after an incident prevented him from reaching the final. At 16, he was the youngest esports entrant.

The four drivers qualified to represent Malaysia through top-two finishes in their respective national competitions sanctioned by the Motorsports Association of Malaysia. Esports Integrated and the Youth and Sports Ministry supported the team through the Malaysia Esports Accelerator Programme.

Malaysia’s squad faced racers representing more than 15 countries. The Royal Automobile Association of Thailand hosted the championship, which offered medals across five motorsport disciplines.
