Singapore’s Ng Zhe Nin secured the women’s taijiquan combined title at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games on Nov 3, earning 18.713 points. The 16-year-old competed at Senegal’s Dakar Expo Center, with wushu included as an Olympic medal sport for the first time.

Ng led both routines in the final, scoring 9.353 points for taijishan in the morning and 9.360 for taijiquan later that day. Silver went to Chinese Taipei’s Chu Yu-en on 18.499 points, while Germany’s Mia Zhou earned bronze with 18.482. Ng had also led the preliminary standings, scoring 18.653 to qualify for the eight-athlete final.

Making her Youth Olympic debut, Ng brought experience from international competition after taking up wushu at 10. At the 2026 World Junior Wushu Championships in Tianjin, China, she won girls’ youth gold medals in taijiquan and taijijian, plus silver in taijishan. Those followed a gold and a silver at the championships in Brunei two years earlier.

Wushu had previously featured in a demonstration role at the Nanjing Youth Olympics in 2014. Dakar’s competition included only taolu, where judges assess choreographed routines, rather than the full-contact sanda discipline. Ng became Singapore’s third Youth Olympic champion, following sailors Bernie Chin and Samantha Yom, who won their respective one person dinghy events at Nanjing in 2014.
