Pablo helps Nxled hold off Farm Fresh in five sets
Nxled recorded 23 blocks to Farm Fresh’s six, while Creamline also won to create a three-way tie at the top.
Myla Pablo scored Nxled’s last four points as the Chameleons overcame a Farm Fresh fightback to win 25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 15-12 at the Filoil Centre in the PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series.
The victory put Nxled at 2-0, while Farm Fresh slipped to 1-1 in the three-series conference. Nxled finished with 23 blocks, compared with six for the Foxies, but needed a deciding set after losing a two-set advantage.
Nxled trailed 0-2 in the fifth before levelling at five. Three successive hits from Brooke Van Sickle helped the Chameleons reach the changeover ahead 8-7. With the teams tied at nine, MJ Phillips put away a Farm Fresh overpass, and an attack error by Ces Molina extended Nxled’s lead to 11-9. Pablo supplied the closing points, while Van Sickle received the Best Player of the Game award.
Creamline also recovered from losing the opening set to beat Galeries Tower 27-29, 25-18, 25-19, 25-18. That result left Creamline, Nxled and Choco Mucho sharing the early lead.
