Malaysia's Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah defeated Bengisu Ercetin-Nazlican Inci of Turkiye 21-11, 21-15 to advance at the French Open, where they will meet compatriots Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting in the second round. The second seeds completed their opening match at Arena Grand Paris in 37 minutes.

Xin Yee-Carmen, ranked world No. 27, also needed 37 minutes for their victory, beating France's Margot Lambert-Camille Pognante 21-11, 21-12. The result reversed their opening-round loss to the French pair at last year's tournament, when the contest went to three games.

The meeting between the Malaysian pairs means the country is assured of at least one quarter-final berth in women's doubles at the Super 750 tournament.

Pearly-Thinaah arrived after winning the Denmark Open, their first title since January. That success returned them to No. 4 in the world rankings. They are seeking another French Open title after becoming Malaysia's first women's doubles champions at the tournament in 2022.

In a post-match interview shared by the Badminton World Federation, Thinaah said they were happy with their performance but had areas to improve, with rest and recovery the immediate priority. Pearly said the shuttles at the new venue were slightly slower, while noting that all players faced the same conditions.
