Persebaya Surabaya have had little preparation time for their away fixture against Persija Jakarta on 7 November, coach Bernardo Tavares said. The team are concentrating on player recovery ahead of the Super League 2026/2027 match at Jakarta International Stadium.

Speaking at a virtual pre-match press conference on 6 November, Tavares pointed to a crowded run of fixtures. Persebaya played on 18, 22, 26 and 30 October, followed by an I.League Cup appearance on 3 November.

The coaching staff will assess players after training before deciding who is best prepared to face Persija. Tavares said those checks would cover mental and tactical readiness as well as physical condition.

Persija have scored more goals than any other team in the competition this season. Tavares acknowledged the strength of the opposition and praised their coach, but said his players enjoyed major matches and would try to give their best performance.

Persebaya defender Yuran Fernandes also acknowledged the limited preparation period but said he felt 100 per cent ready after efforts to recover. Persebaya enter the ninth-round fixture in seventh place with 13 points, while Persija have 18 points.
