Selangor will host Kuching City at MBPJ Stadium for the opening leg of their FA Cup semi-final, seeking a place in the final against opponents who knocked them out of another cup competition in April.

Head coach Kim Pan Gon said Selangor needed to remain humble as they pursued a positive result. He said his players wanted to reach the final and deliver their best performance for supporters, but warned that more difficult matches lay ahead.

Kuching, coached by Aidil Sharin Sahak, defeated Selangor 2–1 on aggregate in the Malaysia Cup semi-finals. This is their first run to the last four of the FA Cup, 11 years after the club was founded as Kuching FA.

Aidil emphasised the need to manage playing time across his 30-player squad. He said players needed opportunities to compete as well as rest, describing football as a marathon rather than a short journey.

Selangor have won the FA Cup five times, sharing the record with Kedah and JDT. Their most recent title came in 2009, leaving them with a 17-year wait for another trophy in the competition.
