Malaysia’s Cabinet will receive a proposal in November on resuming Formula One hosting, according to Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif. The circuit is preparing a feasibility assessment to help the government decide whether to proceed.

Speaking to Bernama, Azhan Shafriman rated the prospects at 50-50. He said the decision rested with the government after it considered the findings, and that SIC would provide verified information.

The assessment will focus on the race’s economic impact and the country’s capacity to stage it, including how to manage congested roads and what public transport facilities are available. SIC is consulting government officials, agencies and industry participants to gather reliable data.

On a separate question about Sepang becoming a substitute venue for international races because of the West Asia conflict, Azhan Shafriman said no affected countries had contacted SIC. He said the circuit was willing to discuss such arrangements if necessary, but preparation time would need to be considered.
