Shannon Tan finishes third in Women’s Indian Open title defence
Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum won by four strokes, while Tan recorded her eighth top-10 finish of 2026 despite a painful left wrist.

Singapore’s Shannon Tan ended her defence of the Hero Women’s Indian Open title in third place on Oct 25, finishing with an even-par 72 in Gurugram. Her total of four-under 284 left her seven strokes adrift of Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum.
Pornanong made seven birdies in a closing 65 at DLF Golf and Country Club to collect her third Ladies European Tour (LET) title. India’s Vani Kapoor shot 70 to take second, three strokes ahead of Tan.
Tan, 22, opened with 68 on Oct 22 but slipped to joint 15th after a second-round 77. A 67 brought her back into contention, and she began the final round alongside Pornanong in joint second, one stroke behind Kapoor. Tan’s closing round contained four birdies and four bogeys, earning her €26,727.48.
The world No. 59 said her recovery after the second round strengthened her confidence in her preparation. She also played through left-wrist pain, which she attributed to overuse. Thick rough worsened the strain, prompting physiotherapy and wrist taping.
The result was Tan’s eighth top-10 placing in 2026. She is sixth on the LET Order of Merit and is targeting a top-10 finish to gain exemption into November’s final stage of LPGA Q-School, where the top 25 and ties earn tour status for 2027.
Tan has two LET events remaining: the Wistron Ladies Open from Oct 29 to Nov 1 and the Aramco China Championship from Nov 5 to 8. She said rest and recovery would be important as she prepares for Q-School.
