Singapore coach Gavin Lee named his 24-man squad on November 4 for friendlies against Paraguay and Brazil, giving Balestier Khalsa midfielder Woo Chun Wei his first international call-up. The selection features four changes from the squad picked for the FIFA ASEAN Cup.

Woo, 21, made his Singapore Premier League debut in April. Lee said the midfielder had demonstrated maturity and consistent performances, and described the call-up as a chance to learn about international football’s demands. Hougang United midfielder Saifullah Akbar returns alongside Darren Teh and Joshua Pereira of Geylang International.

The Lions face Paraguay on November 13 and Brazil on November 17 at Singapore’s National Stadium as part of the Mizuho Blue Challenge – The Kallang Football Series Singapore. Japan play Brazil on November 14 before meeting Paraguay on November 17.

Thespa Gunma forward Ikhsan Fandi misses out through injury. Cardiff City defender Perry Ng is also unavailable as he and his partner await their first child. Lee said the matches would test Singapore and emphasised the importance of the team’s response, learning from the experience and continuing to improve.
