Tang Jie-Wen Tse and Soon Huat-Shevon reach Denmark Open second round
Chen Tang Jie and Chan Wen Tse beat fellow Malaysians, while Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai progressed to a meeting with Denmark’s third seeds.

Malaysia’s Chen Tang Jie and Chan Wen Tse secured a second-round place in mixed doubles at the Denmark Open in Odense, overcoming compatriots Jimmy Wong and Cheng Su Yin 21-19, 21-16. Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai also advanced, beating American opponents Chen Zhi Yi and Francesca Corbett 21-15, 21-13.
The result gave Tang Jie and Wen Tse opening-round wins at two consecutive European tournaments. Their temporary partnership follows an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury suffered by Tang Jie’s regular partner, Toh Ee Wei, at the Singapore Open in May.
At the Arctic Open in Finland, Tang Jie and Wen Tse defeated fellow Malaysians Hoo Pang Ron and Lai Pei Jing 21-15, 21-16. Their campaign ended in the second round with a 21-15, 21-14 loss to China’s top-ranked Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping.
Their next opponents will be either Indonesia’s Amri Syahnawi and Nita Violina Marwah or Chinese sixth seeds Guo Xin Wa and Chen Fang Hui. Soon Huat and Shevon, ranked world No. 10, face Danish third seeds and world No. 3 Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje after exiting the Arctic Open in the first round.
Speaking after the match, Shevon said the schedule following the Asian Games had been demanding, though other players faced the same challenge. She said managing their condition and avoiding injury mattered more to the pair than results or how far they progressed.
