Asian Para Games gold leads to proposal for Thai archer Komsan
The Thai athlete had pledged to propose if he won gold, according to the Sports Association for the Disabled of Thailand.
A gold-medal victory was followed by a marriage proposal for Thai para-archer Komsan Singphirom on 20 October 2026. After winning at the 2026 Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, he proposed to Phannipa Srathongmaew, his girlfriend and a fellow national archer.
Komsan partnered Teerasak Phianrakkani for the men’s compound doubles title. Their 150-147 victory came against Indonesian opponents Ken Swagumilang and Arif Firmansyah.
The proposal appeared on SPADT Thailand, the official Facebook account of the Sports Association for the Disabled of Thailand. The association said Komsan had made his pledge before the competition, promising a proposal if he took gold.
Phannipa finished with a medal too: bronze in women’s compound doubles. Thailand beat Chinese Taipei 130-129 in that contest.
