Thailand coach cites fatigue after shootout defeat by Indonesia
Anthony Hudson declined to blame either player who missed a penalty in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 final in Jakarta.

Thailand coach Anthony Hudson said his players were exhausted when the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 final against Indonesia reached a penalty shootout. Thailand lost the shootout 2-4 after a 2-2 draw at Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on 5 October.
Speaking to Thai outlet Thairath, Hudson said all ten of his players had given everything and were very tired by the time penalties began. He explained that the coaching staff had asked players how confident they felt before deciding who would take the spot kicks.
Sarach Yooyen and Nattapong Sayriya missed their attempts for Thailand. Sarach's shot struck the post, while Indonesia goalkeeper Emil Audero read Nattapong's effort.
Hudson said neither player should be blamed for the defeat, adding that both had performed very well during the match. He said Thailand could not have reached that stage without their contributions and refused to distinguish between those who scored and those who missed.
