Anthony Hudson has expressed confidence that Thailand can deliver their best performance against Indonesia in the first FIFA ASEAN Cup final. The Thailand coach expects an entertaining match when the teams meet at Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta on 5 October 2026.

In comments reported by The Nation, Hudson said Indonesia's physical strength, attacking ability and fast, direct style would present a difficult challenge. He nevertheless believed the two teams' styles would make the final enjoyable to watch.

Hudson said his squad understood how Indonesia played and was enthusiastic about facing the hosts before tens of thousands of their supporters. Kick-off is set for 20.00 WIB.

Two victories and one loss put Thailand at the top of Group B. They had already qualified for the final by beating Vietnam 2-0 in their second fixture, before Hudson changed nine starters for the concluding group match against the Philippines, which Thailand lost 1-2.

The coach accepted that making so many changes carried risks because training time was limited. He said the decision was intended to maintain fitness and allow other players to take part, and that he would choose the same approach again.

Indonesia's Group A campaign produced two wins and a draw. A 9-2 defeat of Bangladesh in their last group game confirmed first place. Indonesia and Thailand last faced each other during the 2022 ASEAN Championship, drawing 1-1.

Captain Chanathip Songkrasin said Thailand's players and coaches wanted to make history by winning the competition's first title. He added that, if Thailand won, they would face Indonesia again at the Asian Cup, and that victory would boost their confidence.
