UP rally in fourth quarter to edge Adamson 69-67
The Fighting Maroons extended their winning run to two games and improved to 4-2 in UAAP Season 89. Adamson’s record slipped to 3-3.

A fourth-quarter comeback helped University of the Philippines secure a 69-67 win over Adamson at Smart Araneta Coliseum on October 14, 2026. The Fighting Maroons overcame a nine-point gap in the UAAP Season 89 men’s basketball contest, surviving two late attempts by the Falcons to reverse the result.
Matty Erolon’s jumper put Adamson ahead 60-51 with 7:22 remaining. UP then scored 11 points without reply, with Veejay Pre finishing the run to give the Maroons a 62-60 advantage at the 3:33 mark.
After Ray Allen Torres equalised, James Payosing scored a layup, Rey Remogat made a three-pointer and Gani Stevens added a two-point basket. That sequence left UP leading 69-62 with 1:53 remaining.
Adamson narrowed the margin to two through Mat Edding’s layup and Monty Montebon’s three-pointer. With about 30 seconds left, the Falcons intercepted an inbound pass, but Earl Medina’s shot from the corner missed. Montebon later stole the ball again and missed his attempt. Adamson’s bench queried whether a foul had been called on the final shot; UP’s win was subsequently confirmed.
Remogat finished with 14 points, 11 coming after half-time, plus six assists and two rebounds. Dikachi Ududo supplied 13 points alongside six rebounds. Pre recorded 12 points with 10 rebounds, and Miguel Yniguez scored 11.
Edding led the Falcons’ scoring with 15 points, adding two each in rebounds, assists and steals. Precious Jonah recorded 11 points with seven rebounds. Erolon and Montebon each contributed 10 points.
