Verstappen wins Singapore Grand Prix for the first time
Charles Leclerc finished second and championship leader Kimi Antonelli third as Verstappen claimed his second victory of the 2026 season.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took his first Singapore Grand Prix victory on Oct 11, winning from pole position at his 10th attempt. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc followed him home, with Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli completing the podium.
The four-time world champion completed 62 laps around the 4.927km Marina Bay Street Circuit to secure his 73rd career win. The result came during his 250th Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend and brought his tally of victories for 2026 to two.
Verstappen had also won Singapore’s inaugural sprint race the day before, then secured career pole number 50 in qualifying. Before this victory, his best Singapore results were second-place finishes in 2018, 2024 and 2025.
Two consecutive Grand Prix wins have lifted Verstappen into fourth place in the drivers’ standings on 221 points. Antonelli remains the championship leader ahead of Mercedes teammate George Russell, while Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton holds third. There are six races left in the season.
Singapore’s pole-sitter has now won 12 of the race’s 17 editions, including every edition since 2023. Verstappen became its seventh different winner across the seven editions held since 2018; the races scheduled for 2020 and 2021 were cancelled because of Covid-19.
