Vietnam will host the 2027 ASEAN U23 Championship, with the competition scheduled for July 2027. It will be the country’s first time staging the tournament, which Vietnam has won in each of its past three appearances.

The July schedule places the championship after the qualifying competition for the 2028 AFC U23 Asian Cup, expected in June 2027. It also gives Vietnam’s U23 side international matches and an opportunity to assess its players before the 34th Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia in September 2027.

Vietnam took part in the ASEAN competition in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025. Its titles came in 2022, 2023 and 2025, all at tournaments held outside Vietnam.

The championship began in 2005, but a suspension lasting several years followed. It resumed in 2019 and has since been held regularly as a competition for young footballers from across Southeast Asia.
