Vietnam’s under-17 women secured a 20-0 win over the Northern Mariana Islands at Ba Ria Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City in their second Group D fixture. VnExpress reported that the result set a national women’s football record, surpassing Vietnam’s 16-0 defeat of the Maldives in 2016.

The victory left Vietnam leading the group on goal difference, with both Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan holding six points after two games. Their October 11 meeting will settle which team earns the single place available from the group for the final tournament. Vietnam opened with a 6-0 win over Palestine, while Kyrgyzstan beat the Northern Mariana Islands 18-0 and Palestine 2-1.

Khanh Chi struck after one minute and 12 seconds, converting a pass from Quynh Lam. Quynh Lam then scored three minutes later. Goals in the 12th and 18th minutes gave Khanh Chi a hat-trick before half-time, and she finished the match with six goals.

Vietnam’s advantage reached 12-0 by the 59th minute. Lightning prompted officials to halt the game in the 65th minute, with play restarting around 15 minutes later. The hosts continued scoring after the interruption, and Khanh Chi registered her sixth goal in the 75th minute.
