Wei Chong-Kai Wun exit Denmark Open as Sze Fei-Izzuddin progress
Chia Weijie-Teo Ee Yi also advanced, setting up an all-Malaysian second-round match that ensures a men's doubles quarter-final place.

Malaysia's Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun lost their opening match at the Denmark Open in Odense, while Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin advanced. The reunited Wei Chong-Kai Wun pairing were beaten 21-16, 22-20 by Denmark's Christian Faust Kjaer-Rasmus Kjaer in 38 minutes.
Ranked No. 12 in the world, Wei Chong-Kai Wun had defeated the No. 28 Danish pair at the Australian Open last year. Their World Tour return together followed a temporary split under national men's doubles coach Herry Iman Pierngadi, who tested different combinations with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics in mind.
During that reshuffle, Kai Wun and Yap Roy King took the Korea Masters title in August, beating Wei Chong and Soh Wooi Yik in the final. Kai Wun-Roy King subsequently reached the China Masters semi-finals.
Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, also restored as a partnership, won their opening match against Japan's Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi. They overcame the defending champions and former world champions in three games.
Sixth seeds Sze Fei-Izzuddin, ranked No. 6, needed 27 minutes to beat fellow Malaysians Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong 21-14, 21-11. Their next opponents are Chia Weijie-Teo Ee Yi, ensuring Malaysia a place in the men's doubles quarter-finals.
Weijie-Ee Yi, the world No. 58 pair, secured their second-round spot by overcoming Taiwan's Chen Zhi Ray-Lin Yu Chieh 21-16, 21-15 in 30 minutes.
In women's singles, Malaysia's Wong Ling Ching lost to Japan's Riko Gunji, who won 19-21, 21-11, 21-19 after 67 minutes. Wong has now lost all three of their meetings.
