Malaysia's Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun advanced to the Korea Open quarter-finals by beating Taiwan's Chen Zhi Ray-Lin Yu Chieh 24-22, 21-12 at Jinnam Stadium in Yeosu. The French Open champions next face Japan's Haruki Kawabe-Kenta Matsukawa in the Super 500 event.

Seeded third and ranked world No. 9, the Malaysians followed up a three-game opening victory over compatriots Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong. They won that match 12-21, 21-8, 21-12 before defeating the world No. 32 Taiwanese pair in round two.

Kawabe-Matsukawa, ranked world No. 57, have previously beaten Wei Chong when he partnered Soh Wooi Yik, eliminating them in the Taiwan Open's opening round in August. Wei Chong-Wooi Yik then won their Korea Masters semi-final meeting 18-21, 22-20, 21-18.

Since reuniting, Wei Chong and Kai Wun have claimed their first Super 750 championship and sixth World Tour title together. Their 13-21, 21-15, 21-7 French Open final win over Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin ended Malaysia's 22-year wait for the men's doubles crown there.

In women's singles, Malaysia's world No. 28 K. Letshanaa lost to top-ranked An Se Young, who won 21-10, 21-12. It was Letshanaa's fifth successive defeat against the South Korean. An is pursuing her 11th title of the season; victory in Yeosu would make her the first player with at least 11 international titles in consecutive seasons.
