Malaysia's Wong Kar Gee claimed the men's T12 long jump title at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games with a 6.74-metre opening effort. It was the country's fifth gold medal, although an official protest means the final result remains subject to review.

The 35-year-old from Kota Kinabalu earned his first Asian Para Games gold at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium. He had taken silver in the event at the Jakarta Games in 2018.

Wong followed his winning jump with attempts of 6.60m, 6.47m, 6.36m, 6.39m and 6.40m. Uzbekistan's Sevinchbek Khusanov finished in the silver-medal position with 6.54m, while Japan's Daiki Ishiyama placed third with 6.48m.

Oman's Othman Al Habsi lodged the official protest after completing his attempts without recording a valid mark.
