Yulo brothers target gold at world gymnastics championships
Carlos seeks another world title in Rotterdam, while Eldrew makes his debut after winning an Asian Games bronze.

Carlos Yulo will pursue another world gold as younger brother Eldrew makes his World Artistic Gymnastics Championships debut in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The competition opens on October 17, with both Filipinos entered in individual all-around qualifying.
Carlos said he intended to compete on all six apparatus and hoped to reach the finals. He arrives less than a month after winning two gold medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, where Eldrew earned a bronze for his first Asiad medal.
The elder Yulo has three world titles: vault golds from Kitakyushu, Japan, in 2021 and Jakarta, Indonesia, and a floor gold from Stuttgart, Germany, in 2019.
The brothers trained in Antwerp, Belgium, alongside fellow Philippine entries Miguel Besana and Haylee Garcia before travelling to Rotterdam. Besana starts his campaign in horizontal bar qualifying on the opening day. Garcia is the only woman representing the Philippines at the championships and is also due to compete.
