Vietnam's 20-0 victory sets record in women's U17 Asian Cup qualifying
Six goals from Truong Khanh Chi helped the hosts secure a second qualifying victory and lead Group D ahead of Kyrgyzstan on goal difference.

Vietnam beat Northern Mariana Islands 20-0 on October 8 in Ho Chi Minh City, setting the country's record for its largest winning margin. The victory in Group D of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers followed their 6-0 success against Palestine.
Truong Khanh Chi scored six times, completing a hat-trick in the 18th minute. Nguyen Quynh Lam supplied the pass for Chi's opening goal and also scored during the first half. Vietnam continued to add goals after the break, although bad weather caused an interruption.
Coach Okiyama Masahiko said his players had met a pre-match target of 20 goals. He explained that Vietnam's national women's team had beaten Maldives 16-0 in Asian championship qualifying in 2022, while Kyrgyzstan had defeated Northern Mariana Islands by 18 unanswered goals in this competition. Despite the result, he said misplaced passes and problems combining with teammates had denied Vietnam further scoring chances.
Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan each have six points, with the hosts ahead on goal difference before their October 11 meeting. Chi said she had never scored so many goals in a match and hoped to sustain her form against Kyrgyzstan.
