A late addition to Indonesia’s squad, Shayne Pattynama scored in the penalty shootout that decided the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 final against Thailand on 5 October. The match at Gelora Bung Karno stadium finished 2-2 before Indonesia secured the trophy with a 4-2 shootout victory.

Pattynama took Indonesia’s fourth penalty, before goalkeeper Emil Audero stopped Thailand’s fourth taker, Nattapong Sayriya, to clinch the title. The final was Pattynama’s only appearance in Indonesia’s four tournament matches: he came on for Justin Hubner in the 101st minute.

John Herdman brought the Persija Jakarta defender into the squad after Indonesia’s 23-player selection had been announced. He replaced the injured Dony Tri Pamungkas. He described converting his penalty and celebrating with his teammates as memories he would keep forever, and said winning the title together meant more than he could express.
