Indonesia beat Thailand on penalties to win FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026
Emil Audero saved Thailand’s fourth penalty to seal a 4-2 shootout victory after the final in Jakarta ended level at 2-2.

Indonesia secured the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 title on 5 October at Stadion Utama Bung Karno in Jakarta, overcoming Thailand in a penalty shootout. Neither side could break a 2-2 deadlock through extra time, before Indonesia converted all four of their penalties to win the shootout 4-2.
Kevin Diks, Elkan Baggott and Shayne Pattynama each scored into the bottom-left corner, while Dean James sent his effort down the middle. Thailand goalkeeper Saranon Anuin anticipated the attempts from Diks and Baggott but could not keep them out. James, Baggott and Pattynama struck with their left foot; Diks used his right.
All four Thai takers aimed to the right. Manuel Bihr scored despite Emil Audero getting a touch on the ball, and Waris Choolthong converted after sending the Indonesian goalkeeper the wrong way.
Thailand’s next two attempts failed. Sarach Yooyen hit the post despite wrong-footing Audero, before the goalkeeper stopped Nattapong Syriya’s shot to settle the final. Indonesia’s fifth taker was not needed because Thailand could no longer catch their opponents.
