Ginebra brings in new import

BARANGAY Ginebra is bringing in a new import, Jordan Murphy, when the team resumes its title chase in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup in October. The Puerto Rican forward has built a professional career overseas following his four-year college stint at Minnesota. Ginebra coach Tim Cone confirmed the arrival of the 29-year-old Murphy on Thursday. Murphy is taking the spot of Riley Grigsby, who served as Ginebra’s import through the conference’s first six games. The Gin Kings, however, are slumped at the bottom of the standings in Group B with a 2-4 record just before the league took a break to give way for the international tournaments of Gilas Pilipinas. Grigsby averaged 31.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.6 blocks in a solid pinch-hitting job through six games stint with the Gin Kings. Murphy, meanwhile, played previously in the NBA G League with the Iowa Wolves, Austin Spurs and Greensboro Swarm. He also played professionally in Puerto Rico and Mexico. Ginebra’s resident import Justin Brownlee continues to recuperate from multiple injuries.
