Herry urges patience as Malaysia’s Aaron Tai and Yap Roy King develop
The Malaysian men’s doubles pair won the Arctic Open and reached the Hylo Open semi-finals, with early exits in Denmark and France in between.

Malaysia men’s doubles coach Herry Iman Pierngadi has urged supporters to give Aaron Tai and Yap Roy King time to develop, saying the pair have promise but should not face excessive expectations at this stage.
In comments reported by New Strait Times, Herry said the two were still establishing their partnership and working out their own approach to matches. He asked fans to avoid immediate comparisons with other pairs and allow them time to address weaknesses.
Herry, who previously coached Indonesia’s men’s doubles players, said Aaron and Roy had not yet faced all the leading partnerships. While he was optimistic about their future, he stressed that they remained unproven.
Their past four tournaments brought an Arctic Open title, early defeats at the Denmark Open and French Open, and a run to the Hylo Open semi-finals after beating an Indonesian pair.
Aaron and Roy are scheduled to miss the Korea Open 2026. Their return is planned for the Kumamoto Masters 2026, followed by the Hong Kong Open 2026.
